Back to the Vineyard: Monastrell & Syrah Harvest at Robiza

Each year, from mid-August until the end of September, we return to the vineyards with a sense of anticipation and purpose — it’s harvest time.

Under the golden light of late summer sunsets, we carefully begin harvesting Monastrell, our native grape in Jumilla and a cornerstone in the creation of Robiza Moon, and then we continue with Syrah, the other 50% of the coupage.

Why Monastrell? What Makes it so special?

Monastrell isn’t just a grape — it’s a symbol of identity, resilience and character.
Here’s what sets it apart:

  • Concentration of Flavors: Monastrell develops rich, deep notes of red and black fruits, with subtle herbal undertones.
  • Tannic Structure: Its naturally firm tannins give it excellent aging potential.
  • Freshness in Balance: Despite the heat of Jumilla’s climate, if harvested at just the right moment, the grape maintains its acidity — essential for balance and elegance, especially in a rosé like Robiza Moon.

Each vintage is a reminder of our commitment to craft wines that are fresh, expressive, and honest, and this year’s harvest promises to be another step in that soulful journey.

Once Monastrell is in, we move on to Syrah — the other 50% of the Robiza Moon coupage.

What makes Syrah so special?

Syrah brings a distinct depth and aromatic complexity that complements Monastrell beautifully:

  • Spice & Floral Notes → Elegant aromas of black pepper, violet, and forest fruits.
  • Soft Texture → A round, velvety mouthfeel that softens Monastrell’s structure.
  • Balance & Harmony → Its freshness and finesse bring balance to the blend, enhancing drinkability and refinement.

Together, Monastrell and Syrah create a wine that captures both the soul of Jumilla’s land and the elegance of the Mediterranean — Robiza Moon, a red that reflects calm, depth, and quiet sophistication.
