Back to the Vineyard: Monastrell & Syrah Harvest at Robiza

Each year, from mid-August until the end of September, we return to the vineyards with a sense of anticipation and purpose — it’s harvest time. Under the golden light of late summer sunsets, we carefully begin harvesting Monastrell, our native grape in Jumilla and a cornerstone in the creation of Robiza Moon, and then we continue with Syrah, the other 50% of the coupage. Why Monastrell? What Makes it so special? Monastrell isn’t just a grape — it’s a symbol of identity, resilience and character.Here’s what sets it apart: Each vintage is a reminder of our commitment to craft wines that are fresh, expressive, and honest, and this year’s harvest promises to be another step in that soulful journey. Once Monastrell is in, we move on to Syrah — the other 50% of the Robiza Moon coupage. What makes Syrah so special? Spain boasts a privileged climate, with long, warm summers across much of the country. Since our inception, Robiza wine has proudly positioned itself among the top high-end destinations. We’re excited to share some fantastic news with all of you! Our expansion is not just real; it’s thriving. We’re grateful for the wonderful feedback we\’ve received during our fourth season, whether you’ve been shopping our wines online, enjoying them at Drink Home Ibiza, or savoring them in various venues. This year, we’re thrilled to partner with more luxurious and elegant restaurants and hotels to indulge in our wines. Get to know Robiza more deeply; our history, our commitment, and what sets us apart, through a series of questions that will uncover the true essence of Robiza. First rosé wine made with Suvignon Blanc and Tempranillo from Europe. How did this discovery come about? We discovered in Germany that New Zealand\’s Rosé Sauvignon Blanc was gaining ground, a challenge not addressed in European wine regions. Upon returning to our winery, we found that our vineyards at 800 meters of altitude were ideal for this kind of wine. After two years of work, combining it with Syrah and Tempranillo, we achieved a pale rosé with golden undertones. Why Jumilla? Why Bodegas Alceño? Bodegas Alceño is a winery with a historical tradition, composed of a young and dynamic team with an open mindset for new projects like Robiza – wines with a narrative of personal growth and a fundamental focus on sustainability: environmental responsibility and health. Also, Jumilla is gaining reputation thanks to the praise from international critics. SUN, SEA, AND MOON. Why is Robiza’s commitment to nature? Wine is fundamentally a product obtained from the land, from nature. We wanted to pay tribute to it in our Robiza designs. About histamine and the \”no hangover.\” What is the minimum level you use in your wines? We craft using the short maceration method, which lowers histamine levels and, consequently, reduces headaches. Robiza Sun and Sea have less than 1 ml/Liter of histamine, while Robiza Moon ranges between 2.5-3 ml/Liter for higher polyphenol concentration. The winery aims to further decrease this histamine level. Although the aesthetics and sales locations suggest a luxurious and expensive product, surprisingly, the prices are affordable. We believe in the concept of \”affordable luxury\” and inclusivity by offering our wines to the end consumer at a fantastic value on our website. This week, the brand is immersed in an exciting adventure, hosting two major events where wine is the perfect companion, bringing its vinicultural elegance to new horizons. On one hand, on Monday, November 20th, the Robiza team hosted a meal at Zuma, one of the coolest venues in Madrid, to officially introduce the brand to some Spanish media. Guests had the opportunity to enjoy a sophisticated menu paired with Robiza wines. On this occasion, we had the honor of inviting amazing people from prominent media outlets such as Hola magazine, Elle Gourmet, Clara, Traveler, the Repsol guide, El Español, ABC, Directo al Paladar, and many more. On the other hand, on Tuesday, November 21st, we had the pleasure of participating in the 3rd edition of the Luxury Spain Xmas Market, a private event focused on the presentation and tasting of the attending luxury brands. The event was presided over by H.R.H. Princess Béatrice d\’Orléans and featured Luxury Spain brands from various sectors with \”Luxury Spain Gourmet,\” \”Luxury Spain Beauty,\” \”Luxury Spain Fashion,\” and \”Luxury Spain Lifestyle\” quality seals. Robiza showcased its wines at this event, aiming to surprise attendees with the delicacy and elegance on the palate. In both experiences, Robiza not only presented exceptional wines but also shared the importance of telling stories through each bottle. This intense and exciting week demonstrates that Robiza is not just about wines; it creates experiences. Every drop of its wines tells a part of the brand\’s fascinating story, and we are thrilled to continue exploring this exceptional wine journey.
